Nov.23/09

Today we learned about factorial notation into perms/coms(permutation/combination). Permutation means-an ordering of objects in which order matters(ie. makes a diffrence) ex. phone number, locker permutation, postal codes, etc. a combination means- an ordering of objects in which ORDER doesn't matter, ex. card hands, pizza toppings, committee membership(all members the same). the formula for perutation is nPr and the formula for combination is nCr which means n objects combined r at a time nCr=n!/(n-r)!*r!

Nov. 19/09

Today was a work period.

Nov.18/09

Today we corrected the pathway problem. The easiest way to do it is use the triangle for each of the squares and multiply them together.

Nov.17/09

Today we learned about probability. We have to know how to put things into fractions, decimals, percentages, and words. Our calculators make fractions easy by pressing the math button and selecting the frac option. Also Pascals triangle plays a key role in probability. Each top two numbers added together makes the number below it.

We also recieved an excercise booklet.

Nov.13/09

Today I decided my Vectors Project would consist of the resultant vector being from where I live to the Co-op. We also were given some time to work on our excercises.

Thursday, November 12, 2009

Nov.12/09

Today was a work period so I don't really have anything to say to myself.

Tuesday, November 10, 2009

Nov.10/09

Today we learned about adding vectors. I accidentally fell asleep though so I will have to watch the recording.

Monday, November 9, 2009

Nov.09/09

Today we were given our vector projects. We need to make a vector resultant for a scenario chosen by us and make at least 5 diffrent ways to do it without the "as the crow flies" method.

Thursday, November 5, 2009

Nov.05/09

Today was a work period. We worked on excercise #2 questions.

Wednesday, November 4, 2009

Nov.04/09

Today we had a grad meeting and we discussed more vectors explained in the screenshots below.

Tuesday, November 3, 2009

Nov.03/09

Today I learned that when you add vectors together it means you put them end to end and the distance between them is your answer. It also doesn't matter which order you put them in because it's the same answer.

Monday, November 2, 2009

Nov.02/09

Today we started vectors. Vectors have 2 characteristics: they have magnitude[(how much)(ruler)] and direction[(which way)(protractor)]. This recording will help with the rest.

Oct.29/09

Today we corrected the driveway question. Mr. Maks explained it on the spreadsheet sitting on the network drive.

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

Oct.27/09

Today we talked about making a facebook group for math. We acted upon it and we also did the pavement question.

Thursday, October 22, 2009

Oct.22/09

Today we correceted the tile question and attempted a cake question. It's basically what I do at work when I make a bunk end.

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

Oct.21/09

Today we were given a design and measurement portfolio with time to attempt question 2. A. on page 4 of 4. It's about ceiling tiles. This is very coincidenal seeing as there are things falling from the ceilings this morning.

Oct.20/09

Today we did a spot check to figure out if we knew what we were doing with sequences and personal finance.

Monday, October 19, 2009

Oct.19/09

This class we did mental math and made our formula sheets for the test this week. Also, we were shown our learning outcome for grade 12.

oct.16/09

Today Mr. Maks got our attention and I learned more than I did before. I know how to do the stuff we did yesterday and I know how to use the net worth template.

Thursday, October 15, 2009

Oct.15/09

Today we learned about some tricks you can do on your graphing calculator.

Wednesday, October 14, 2009

oct.14/09

Today we learned about net worth, debt Equity ratio and GDSR.

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

Oct.13/09

We did a homework check and corrected a question.

Friday, October 9, 2009

Oct.09/09

today we corrected question 8 and learned how to blog better.

Wednesday, October 7, 2009

Oct.06/09

we did a test on sequences. we just had to hand in two of the assigned questions.

Oct.05/09

Today was post secondary day. I was not in class. I learned about Brandon University and University of Manitoba.

Oct.07/09

Today we learned how to buy stuff. A good website to calculate the payments you would have to make on a loan is http://www4.bmo.com/popup/loans/Calculator.html
there are other ones if you type in payment calculator on google. On your calculator just press APPS, ENTER, ENTER. The definitions of each button is in your notes. There is also an example question about buying a yellow corvet and taking out a loan to pay for it while paying your loan.

Friday, October 2, 2009

Oct.02/09

Today we did mental math and coninuedto work on our questions.

Thursday, October 1, 2009

Oct.01/09

Today We corrected the cat pill question and now we are supposed to practice some other questions of our choice.

Wednesday, September 30, 2009

Sept. 30/09

Today we learned two diffrent methods for calculating sequences. I don't like the calculator one but the web based one is alright.

Thursday, September 24, 2009

Sept. 24/09

Today was a review for the Matri and networks test tomorrow. The main things to know are the matrix intro/operations. that includes
  • vocabulary
  • naming
  • calculaor
  • adding
  • subtracting
  • scalar multiplying
  • matrix multiplying

You also need to know Matrix multiplication and all it's aspects and rules. You need to remember transition matricies. with that multiply row by square. Remember networks too.

Wednesday, September 23, 2009

Sept.23/09

We reviewed yesterdays homework. we did question 4.

Tuesday, September 22, 2009

Sept.22/09

Today we were taught about Networks and matricies and it's simply following the lines to see how many ways you can get to a certain point. Use your calculator to find routes bigger than what your looking for in the first place.

Monday, September 21, 2009

Sept.21/09

Today We went over question 2 in Excercise 6. It helps so just remember to take your notes home to study!!!! REMEMBER!!! Take all your notes home. your whole binder even!

Friday, September 18, 2009

Sept.16/09

We learned more about Matrix Multiplication.

Sept.18/09

Today I learned about Transition Matricies. The notes are in your binder..Study them!! They make some sense. Also do some problems in that excercise booklet, just be sure to go back and forth between your notes. It will help.

Thursday, September 17, 2009

Sept.17/09

2. a) [170 240] by multiplying the weekly average matrix by a 2x1 matrix representing the number of factories the corporation has.

b)

Wednesday, September 16, 2009

Sept.15/09

I did a worksheet today. It was pretty simple, at the top it says Matrix Modeling. do some questions, they help.

Monday, September 14, 2009

Today we learned how to use scalar multiplication. it's basically taking the number and multiplying it by every element in the matrix. we also learned how to use matrix multiplication to an extent. look in your NOTES!

Friday, September 11, 2009

Sept. 11/09

Today we learned that matricies(multiple matrix's) which look like 2 brackets with numbers in them and the numbers are arranged in rows and columns. With matricies, u can add them, subtract them scalar multiply them and matrix multiply them on your calculator.
